“Unlocking Success: Weekly Business Ideas to Propel Your Growth,”
Welcome to Weekly Business Ideas part 3
I don’t know what it is with me and travel blogs, but I come across a new one nearly every day.
Now, most of them are not great, but a lot of them are, which makes me wonder: is travel the most common blogging topic? No clue. I have a very interesting story to share with you today.
This is the story of Kimmie. Kimmy was about 20 years old.
back in 2015. She was thinking about what to do in life, and she had an idea from another blog. What if I start writing on the internet? And so she began.
She tried to think of what would be an ideal topic for her blog. Kimmie’s mother was a flight attendant, and in their family, they always talked about traveling, planes, and airports. So Kimmie decided to create a travel blog. Here’s that blog today: https://www.adventuresnsunsets.com/Initially, the blog basically made no money. Kimmie had to work in a restaurant to support herself.
She was doing restaurant work during the day and writing at night. It took Kimmie roughly 2 years to see any money from her website. Initially, all the money she made came from ads (Google ads). Once she had 10,000+ visitors per month, she moved to Mediavine from Google Ads, which offers a better rate. And she kept writing and SEOing. The blog kept growing.
The website now makes anywhere from $5000-$10,000 USD/month.
And this is a business that has: https://www.facebook.com/adventuresnsunsets/ – There are only 3000 Facebook followers. https://twitter.com/Kimmconn – 5000 Twitter followers
https://www.instagram.com/kimmconn/60k on Instagram.
Kimmie did really well with diversifying her income. Depending on just an ad was not a good strategy, and she knew it. The blog now makes money using: Guest Posts: She writes about other companies, products, or websites on her website for a fee.Affiliate Deals: She is getting a lot of commissions from 100 different companies that she refers to on the blog. Private Work: Videography and Photography
and influencer-type deals. Ads: She still has ads on the website.
